At Voicebrook, we believe pathologists should spend less time struggling with technology and more time focused on diagnosis and patient care. That’s why we’re excited to be participating in the 2025 WG-26 DICOM Digital Pathology Connectathon, an international event that brings together digital pathology vendors to ensure their systems can work together seamlessly.
The Problem: Siloed Systems, Fragmented Workflows
Today’s pathology environment is more digital than ever. Whole slide images, AI algorithms, and LIS platforms are becoming increasingly advanced, but they often operate in silos. That fragmentation can cause inefficiencies, errors, and frustration for the people doing the most important work: the pathologists, PAs, and lab professionals.
The Solution: DICOM Standards and WG-26
The WG-26 working group was formed by the DICOM Standards Committee to define how pathology images, annotations, and metadata should be shared across systems. The WG-26 Connectathon is a critical checkpoint where vendors come together to test their systems for interoperability.
For Voicebrook, that means ensuring our pathology solutions can access and utilize DICOM annotations, not to display images, but to extract meaningful information like regions of interest, algorithmic findings, and measurement data that can help streamline and improve the reporting process.

Our Role: Making Critical Data Work for Reporting
During the Connectathon, Voicebrook is participating in the “displayer” capacity. While VoiceOver PRO does not display pathology images, our participation in the Connectathon allows us to validate that our solution can read the diagnostic context embedded in those images. This includes structured data from digital pathology viewers and AI tools that identify specific features in tissue samples.
By integrating this data into our reporting workflows, Voicebrook makes it easier for pathologists to capture key diagnostic elements accurately and efficiently — without duplicating work or switching between systems. That results in:
✅ Better accuracy: Leveraging annotations and AI findings reduces the risk of missing critical information.
✅ Faster workflows: Structured data can be auto-inserted into reports, saving time and manual entry.
✅ Improved Interoperability: Supporting DICOM standards means labs can choose the tools that work best for them, without worrying about vendor lock-in.
Looking Ahead
The outcomes of the Connectathon will be presented at the 21st European Congress on Digital Pathology (ECDP2025), held June 25–28 in Barcelona, Spain. These results will provide insight into vendor interoperability performance and foster greater collaboration across the pathology technology community.
